We started Oakwood because we saw too many homeowners let down by contractors who cut corners. We do things differently.
Our story
Oakwood Loft Conversions was founded in 2006, a structural carpenter who had spent a decade working for larger building firms across South Yorkshire. He kept seeing the same problems: rushed timelines, poor communication, and finishes that didn't match what customers had been promised.
Jaysen set up Oakwood with a simple principle — treat every home as if it were your own. That meant honest surveys, realistic timelines, fixed prices, and a team of tradespeople who took genuine pride in their work.
Twenty years on, we've completed over 200 conversions across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, and Barnsley. We're still a family business. Jaysen still visits every site. And we still turn down work we don't think we can do properly.
